Thermal analysis of boron-lithium alloys

Experimental methods:

  • Measurements of the activity and diffusion coefficients in alloys by the EMF measurements of the high temperature galvanic cells with the solid and liquid electrolytes in the high purity Ar atmospher (O2 < 1ppm, H2O < 0.1 ppm, N2 < 2ppm)

  • Investigation of the heat of formation and heat of mixing of alloys and intermetallic phases in the home-made high-temperature calorimeter

  • Measurements of the surface tension of liquid alloys (maximal bubble pressure method), viscosity (capilary flow technique) and densisty (dilatometric method)

Results of investigations are used together with the other avalilable in literature of themodynamic and equlibrium data for the critical evaluation of the optimized thermodynamic parameters which are next used for calculations and modeling of the pahase equilibria by the Lukas and Thermo-Calc software.

  • Modeling of the physical properties of Pb-free soldering materiale; surface tension (Butles model), viscosity (models of Seetharaman-Sichen, Moelwen-Huges, Kucharski and Hirai)

  • Analisys of correlations between the thermodynamic properties and the structural parameters

  • Kinetics of electrodeposition of metals and alloys

  • Thermodynamic analysis of the electrolytic baths for electrodeposition of metals and alloys

  • Physicochemical properties the electrodeposited materials;

  • Modelling of alloy plating (pulse plating of alloy)

  • Electrodeposition of alloys with special consideration given to:

    - Pb-free soldering materials - corrosion resistant alloys - semiconductor films
