· Experimental determination of thermodynamic properties of both metallic and ceramic systems by electrochemical methods, supported by DSC, DTA, EDS and XRD analyses (A. Wierzbicka-Miernik, A. Sypien, G. Garzel, M. Kopyto, L. Zabdyr).
· New lead-free solder materials and technologies: thermodynamic properties of lead-free multicomponent alloy systems (A.Wierzbicka-Miernik, A. Sypien, G. Garzel, M. Kopyto, W. Przybylo, L. Zabdyr).
· Determination of the thermochemical properties of intermetallic phases (A. Wierzbicka-Miernik, A. Sypien, G. Garzel, M. Kopyto, W. Przybylo, L. Zabdyr).
· Development of microcasts by various induction melting methods: crucible melting, half-levitation (CCLM-cold crucible levitation melting) and levitation melting (A. Sypien, W. Przybylo, G. Garzel, M. Kopyto).

· Optimisation and phase diagram calculations by CALPHAD method by means of software packages: ThermoCalc version S, Pandat 7 (optimizer included) (G. Garzel, L. Zabdyr).
