The Institute's library houses: scientific monographs, journals, standards, PhD and DSc theses (primarily by Instituteworkers), maps and atlases. The thematic range of books collected in thelibrary covers the following fields: metallurgy, materials science,thermodynamics, physics, chemistry, mathematics and computer science.

The library provides access to 16 328 books and 9 317 volumes of foreign and Polish journals. It subscribes to 13 journals included in the list of the Instituteof Scientific Information in Philadelphia, namely:
