We read the value of the orientation distribution function for the three Euler angles is done by finding the nearest corner of the 5x5x5 cube, which is divided into space Euler read with the value (the generated text file). In order to convince themselves of the validity of a decision Eulerization write a function to generate pole figures of imported orientation distribution function. For this purpose a grid-like mesh pole figure equiangular (step 7.5 degree) with a total 471 points and each point (fi, Chi), a discrete list Euler path points to a variable angle of rotation sensor around normal to the diffracting plane. These calculations lasts a little too long, and you should consider what can be improved throughout the algorithm, however, due to their task at the moment is in abeyance. Nevertheless Eulerization helps restore function pole figures in the correct manner, with the proviso that, contrary than you would think, the angle fi runs along the clockwise direction, and not the opposite. It should be noted some confusion and excess Convention, which may complicate the orientation of the sample in the system. Due to the geometry of the goniometer X direction (RD) is directed downwards, and Y (TD) to the left. Meanwhile, the pole figure is shown opposite.

Main studies carried out during this month:

- new alloys compositions were cast into steel mould (with higher content of aluminium)
- microstructure of new alloys was examined firstly using SEM. All ingots revealed similar microstructure containing phases like Al6(Mn, Fe), Al3(Mn, Fe) and Al3(Mn, Zr, Ti). Additionally eutectic structure was visible at grains boundaries of aluminium matrix.
- new melt spun ribbons from prepared alloys were obtained with various conditions (during research stay in The East Paris Institute of Chemistry and Materials Science)
- from new ribbons thin foils for TEM observations were prepared using electropolishing method,
- participation in symposium “Materials Science for industry” between 11th and 13th of April in Krynica where PhD students gave their talks to specialists from industry working in different fields. During this meeting I gave presentation with the title „Quasicrystalline Al-Mn-Fe obtained by rapid quenching – structure and properties”.

In April I had an opportunity to participate in a meeting
of materials scientists with the people of industry.
I gave a talk on methods of geometric characterization of
grain boundaries and their possible applications.
My abstract concerning
geometrically characteristic grain boundaires
in hexagonal materials has been accepted for the IIB'2013 conference.

Last month we took part in a symposium entitled “Materials Science for Industry” (Krynica-Zdrój). The main goal of the symposium was presentation of the results of our investigations to the invited industry representatives from different polish companies connected with materials science.
During the conference I gave a speech on “Aluminium matrix nano-composites reinforced with aluminium nitrides, produced using mechanical alloying”
