The analysis of the sample phase of titanium alloy of aluminum, titanium and niobium coated hydroxyapatite for beam angles 1, 2, 5 degrees. The first sample had a 100-nanometer layer of hydroxyapatite, while the second sample was coated with a layer of hydroxyapatite dwustudwudziesto nanometer. Sample was studied in two theta angle of twenty-five degrees to one hundred twenty degrees. The study revealed a grazing phases:

From experimental point of view, continuation of the measurement of the electromotive force of liquides AlLiZn alloys for constant ratio of concentration of Al and Zn, equals 3.0. Addition of the concentration 0.5, 0.7 et 0.9 lithium, respectively.
Whereas, from theoretical side, an application of the Bathia and Hargrove theory for demixing alloys based on free volume theory. Connection of the transport phemonena on the structural properties i.e. ordering of atoms or clustering. Moreover, application of the molecular dynamic simulations for evaluation of the basic thermodynamic properties.

Another month has passed and the next papers have been read...This time I focused on the literature concerning methods of cellular adhesion and proliferation control on the polyelectrolyte multilayer surfaces. I produced several series of samples to evaluate the micro-hardness. I prepared specimens to impact R test, which will allow to assess the confluence and the stability of endothelial monolayer, as well as the risk of activation of the coagulation system by the proposed tissue analog. I also continued studies on growth and morphology of commercially available HUVEC cell line and fibroblast line (as a model cell line) on the previously functionalized polyelectrolyte surfaces with varying degree of cross-linking.

PhD bravado style progress P. Czaja reporting on the April 2012 achievements

In April we did some TEM work on Ni-Mn-Sn based and aluminium doped samples. The aluminium content was 1 and 2 atomic %. The first sample with 1 at. % of Al nicely showed typical for this materials Heusler structure composed of four interpenetrating bcc sub lattices. What is more in the grain boundary areas we spotted martensite precipitates in a form of characteristic martensitic plates. This is not a surprise since according to recent studies by Chen et al. Al increases martensite start transition temperature by decreasing the unit cell volume. It was then justified to expect even more martensitic plates in the sample stuffed with 2 at. % of aluminium. TEM later confirmed this expectation. The sample revealed a two phase structure, with one of the phases being 4O martensite. We made several BF images and STEM too in order to determine the average grain size.
This month I also gave a talk on my research work and up to date progress. No need to say that I delivered in a bravado style!

I am still fighting and looking for ideas how to extract information which is of my interest from 3D EBSD data in an effective way. I have been testing a dozen of different computer programs... however none gives satisfying results. It appear I will have to spend some more time looking for good solutions.
